Oh the agony for Su Hyun at US Amateur

Victorian golfer Su Hyun Oh has bowed out of the US Women’s Amateur Championship in Glen Cove in New York, losing her quarter final match to Texan, Kristen Gillman.

Losing might have been tough enough to take on its own but that she let a four up lead with six holes to play will no doubt add insult to the injury for the brilliant Oh.

Gillman birdied the second extra hole after the match was forced into extra time as a result of Gillman’s fightback.

Oh was shaping as a genuine chance to become the first Australian to win the title, having qualified second in the strokeplay and winning her early match play encounters with ease, including a 9 & 8 victory over the defending champion Emma Talley in her round of 16 encounter.
