Lonard's timely improvement in Knoxville

Peter Lonard needs something special over the next two weeks if he is to have any chance of forcing his way into the Web.Com Tour finals and keep alive his hopes for a return to the PGA Tour in 2015 and with his back to the wall he has found the sort of form that at least gives him hope.
Lonard is two shots off the lead at the News Sentinel Open in Knoxville in Tennessee, a second round of 66 confirming a run of form of late that has been perhaps better then it appears on paper.
“I feel I have been playing well for a while now without getting anything out of it,” said Lonard after his second round today. “This week, at least thus far, I have been able to convert a few more of the chances I have been creating and obviously that is making a difference.”
“I have a lot of work to do but at least I have a chance.”
Lonard is currently 155th on the money list and just to get to the Web.Com Tour Finals which begin in two weeks he will likely need another US$50,000 from either this week or next week’s event in Portland in Oregon.
Lonard is two behind American Martin Piller and Canadian Roger Sloan.
Aron Price and Steve Allan share 22nd, Nick O’Hern and James Nitties 34th, with Adam Crawford and Nathan Green 50th.
