Inaugural Czech Masters played in Prague

The European Tour maybe missing many of its stars this week as they battle for the riches of the FedEx Cup Playoffs but for those not eligible for the Barclays Championship in New Jersey the D&D Real Czech Masters offers at least an alternative.

The Albatross Golf Resort in Prague plays host to the inaugural staging of the event where Jamie Donaldson tees it up as the leading ranked player in the field.

Donaldson is a player good enough to have finished runner-up at the WGC Cadillac Championship in Miami earlier this year and prior to the recent Open Championship was putting together several good finishes. He played well enough at recent events in the US and in terms of class is the standout this week.

Bernd Wiesberger played very well at the recent PGA Championship and has been twice runner-up in European Tour events this season.

Joost Luiten has recorded four top tens this season and at 47th in the world he is the second highest ranked player in the field. He does not win often but is a very solid and generally consistent performer.

Stephen Gallacher is a much better player than his recent efforts in the US would suggest and is likely to bounce back quickly.

Gregory Bourdy has lost some of his consistency of late but earlier in the year he was playing very well and if he can find a way to rediscover that form the Frenchman could contend this week.

Australians in the field are Wade Ormsby and Nathan Holman. Ormsby is having a good solid season in Europe while Holman is continuing his globetrotting after playing a Challenge Tour event in Europe two weeks ago and the Fiji International last week. Holman is a talent but is facing a demanding schedule as he chases experience and opportunities where he can.
