Cauley wins opening Web.Com Tour final

24 year old Floridian Bud Cauley has given himself the perfect opportunity of a return to the PGA Tour in 2015 with victory over Colt Knost at the Hotel Fitness Championship in Fort Wayne in Indiana, the first of the four Web.Com Tour Finals to determine those who gain access to the PGA Tour in 2015.

Cauley, who finished 143rd on the FedEx Cup points table and thus forcing the need to regain his playing rights on the PGA Tour, came from two shots off the pace with a final round of 65 to win by one over Knost with another three shots back to Englishman Greg Owen.

Scott Gardiner led the Australasian challenge when he finished in a share of 12th with Rod Pampling the next best in 19th position.

That was the good news for Gardiner, the bad news was that he dropped five shots in two holes in the middle of his back nine, a period of golf that might prove very costly if he is unable to secure his PGA Tour card over the next few weeks.
