Peter Fowler, currently ranked 7 on the 2001-2002 Australasian PGA Tour Order of Merit has confirmed he will be playing in the NSW Open to be played at Horizons Golf Resort, Salamander Bay from 7 – 10 November 2002.

Fowler is a past Australian Open winner (1983) and sits in the top 20 of the Australasian PGA Tour Order of Merit. Peter’s victories include the 1985 Queensland PGA, 1986 Australian Match Play, 1993 New Zealand Open, 1993 BMW International (Europe), 1987 Singapore Open and the 1988 French Match Play.

The NSW Open has attracted over 400 entries from professional and amateur golfers wishing to become a part of history. Of these, only 156 will finally be given the prestigious opportunity to make this a reality.

Professionals who have confirmed their place in the final field include last year’s joint Buy.Com winner Gavin Coles, Players Championship winner Andre Stolz and other local favourites Wayne Riley, Nathan Green and Ed Stedman.

The event will also have an international flavour with entries received from Douglas La Belle (USA), Michael Long and Paul Devenport (New Zealand), Eddie Barr (Ireland) and Kenichi Ryu (Japan).

As well as battling for AUD$200,000 in prize money, players in the NSW Open will also be firing to win a $50,000 Southwind Classic sport boat from Yamaha for a hole-in-one across the water on the par 3 15th on the final day of the NSW Open Championship.

The huge list of competitors for the NSW Open will be trimmed by way of qualifying rounds to be played on Monday 4 November at both Eastlake and Long Reef Golf Clubs.
