Pisani, Donahoo take early lead at QLD Medal

Ben Pisani (Indooroopilly) and Paul Donahoo (Indooroopilly) are the early clubhouse leaders on day one of the 2006 Queensland Medal at Indooroopilly Golf Club. In excellent playing conditions, both players carded 6 birdies and 1 bogey on their way to 67's (-5) to lead by one shot from three players.
Returning scores of 68 (-4) were Richard Talsma (Virginia), Kyle Grant (Mona Vale, NSW) and New Zealand golfer Leighton James (The Grange, NZ).
One shot further back are Kevin Lee (Oxley) and Hayden Braham (Emerald Lakes) after rounds of 69 (-3).
National Squad member and 2006 Australian Medalist, Jason Day (Hills) was disappointed with his round of 71 (-1) and will be looking to improve as the week progresses.
The second round will be played tomorrow and the field will then be cut to the leading 60 players (plus ties) who will contest the final 2 rounds on Friday.
The leading 16 players will then qualify for the Queensland Amateur Championship (matchplay) at Gold Coast Burleigh Golf Club next week.
