Day in tight tussle at QLD Amateur
IN: News | Queensland Mens | Queensland Amateur Championship (2006) | Round Two | 03 May 2006
Day 2 of the Queensland Amateur Championship commenced this morning at Gold Coast Burleigh Golf Club with the quarter finals. In yet another perfect day with teperatures in the low - mid 20s the Gold Coast Burleigh layout has been prepared in immaculate condition.
At lunch, Queensland Medalist and number one qualifier Jason Day (Hills) is being pushed all the way by Mark Boe (Emerald Lakes). Their match is all square and was that way for most of the morning with the difference never reaching more than 1 up.
Talented young Korean born golfer Kevin Lee (Oxley) is in a strong position at 3 up over Luke Paroz (Caboolture) who qualified in 4th position. Lee is happy with his game at the moment and the 17-year-old will be hard to beat from this position.
Queensland Junior Team member Warrick Betts (Indooroopilly) has struggled this morning and is 5 down to yesterday's albatross maker Ray Beaufils (Surfers Paradise). Beaufils was at 6up through 13 holes and continues his good run of form lately. Beaufils was the halfway leader in last week's Queensland Medal after 66 & 68 however faded in the last 2 rounds to finish in 6th position.
The final match is between Indooroopilly golf club members Nathan Uebergang and Ben Pisani. Uebergang played well on the back nine and took the match to 3 up through 17 holes. He bogeyed the last hole to go to lunch at 2up over Pisani.
