Lutterus leading in South Australia
IN: News | Von Nida | South Australian PGA Championship (2006) | Round Two | 03 May 2006
Players have completed the second round of the Cadbury Schweppes South Australian PGA Championship and the host states boasts players in the top two positions.
South Australian David Lutterus was last year granted an invitation to the South Australian PGA as an amateur, finishing in 3rd position. The rookie Professional now leads the class Von Nida players by a shot at the halfway mark.
Last year's Von Nida Tour Order of Merit winner, returned scores of 70 and 67 to be one shot adrift of Lutterus's 69 and 67. Bland is looking forward to stamping his authority on the tournament in Thursday's third round. He shares second position with Victorian David Diaz. The former Coolum Classic winner has a win under his belt already this year and looking to catch the current OOM race leader, Marc Leishman.
Lutterus and Bland share the honours of holding the current course record with their 67's, however with low scores still predicted, their fame might be short lived.
Joint overnight leader Luke Hickmott followed his impressive four-under score with a two-under to sit in outright 4th position.
Leading the six invited Amateurs is Peter Cooke, holding down a tie for 9th position and thrilled with the opportunity to challenge the star packed field.
Last year's champion Tony McFadyean failed to make the halfway cut with two disappointing rounds 81 and 74.
The cut was made at 146 ( 2) with 59 professionals and three amateurs playing the final two rounds from 9:20 in the morning.
