A final round of 67 which included four birdies in the last five holes has seen Ji-Hee Lee run out an easy winner of the lucrative Vernal Ladies tournament in Fukuoka in Southern Japan.
For Lee, a 27-year-old from South Korea, this was her second victory of the 2006 season and her 8th overall on the Japan Golf Tour. Lee now moves into second position on the Japan Ladies Tour money list in 2006 behind another two time winner in 2006, Shiho Ohyama.
Lee shared the lead after round one, led alone by two shots after round two and today her victory was never in doubt.
Another Korean, Hyun-Ju Shin, finished alone in second place ahead of Michie Ohba with the leading JLPGA money winner in 2006, Ohyama, in 4th place with Jeong-Eun Lee.
The best of the Australians was Tamie Durdin who also played well here last year when fourth in the same event. Durdin finished 9th today and, after a slow start to the season, the Brisbane based South Australian appears to be finding her form in recent weeks.
Canberra's Nikki Campbell had a horror run in the middle of her back nine after moving inside the top ten through ten holes. Campbell's run of six consecutive bogeys from the 12th hole saw her slip back to eventually finish 31st.
The tournament was worth ¥120 million with ¥21.6 million (A$250,000) to the winner.
