Australia’s Richard Green will get to play his second US Open next week after qualifying in 5th place at the Sectional Qualifying for European Tour players held at Walton Heath overnight.
Green finished 52nd in last year’s US Open at Pinehurst but will now tee it up at Winged Foot in New York starting in June 15th. Green has again played well on the European Tour this season narrowly missing a chance to win in Dubai and then finishing third the next week at the Johnnie Walker Classic.
Green’s inclusion in the field will take the total of Australasians qualified to play the event to nine with further opportunities for those qualifying at US venues today and tomorrow.
Michael Campbell, Adam Scott, Stuart Appleby, Robert Allenby, Nick O’Hern, Geoff Ogilvy, Rod Pampling and Mark Hensby are exempt from any qualifying requirements.
