American Moore wins Players Amateur

Having a three shot margin courtesy of a 2nd round course record 62 was Jonathan Moore's saving grace at The Players Amateur, as the 21-year-old secured the tournament and with that, a place in the PGA Tour 2007 Verizon Heritage Championship.
Moore won the title with a score of -22, with rounds of 67,62,66,67, a shot over fellow American Robert Riesen, who stormed home with a wet sail with a closing 65 on the final day.
The win at The Players Amateur is topping off a remarkable season for the 21-year-old from Oklahoma State University, with Moore achieving earlier victories in the 2006 NCAA Division 1 National & Regional Team Championship, the 2006 Maxwell Invitational, as well as qualifying for the US Open Championship at Winged Foot.
Won Joon Lee was Australia's best finisher in 5th place, followed by Ashley Hall in T9th, New Zealander Josh Geary in T12th, Rick Kulacz finished T14th, whilst Jamie Arnold and Phillip Watkins shared T16th.
Andrew Dolt (T28th) and Andrew Tampion (T33rd) will be looking to improve on their performances as they prepare for The Porter Cup which starts on Monday 24th July at Niagara Falls Country Club.
Given the winning streak that Jonathan Moore is finding himself in, the American will be looking to add to his already bulging trophy cabinet at the upcoming Porter Cup.
