It was a Monday practice day and the crowds were already out in force at the 88th PGA Championship at Medinah Country Club in Illinois, 30km west of the windy city, Chicago.
Not even Tiger could go about his practice round without attracting attention; then again, he is virtually unable to venture anywhere in the world without the assistance of bodyguards.
The Australians, including Stuart Appleby, Rod Pampling and John Senden took to the 7561 yard layout in the afternoon. All look relaxed as they went about signing autographs and chatting to the fans.
The course is magnificent condition and you only have to stand atop the 13th tee to see why. A monster of a hole at 244 yards (223 metres), with the majority over the water. During today's practice rounds players were carefully gauging the correct club, it is a hole to watch this week as the tournament unfolds.
The local media are speculating a Tiger-Mickelson duel. The fact is with the depth of Australian talent attending the Championship and our record on this year's USPGA Tour, the Americans may be disappointed come the final nine on Sunday.
