In what was the final opportunity for players contending in the 88th PGA Championship at Medinah Country Club, most of the field, including the top line players, had their last hit out before the Championship gets underway properly early tomorrow.
The every present duties of signing autographs for fans on practice days was taken on board by the Australian contingent of Nathan Green, Peter Lonard and Robert Allenby, which all found at time overwhelming. The three Australian's shared a practice round and it was obvious they were enjoying not only the attention from the US fans, but playing a round of golf together.
Robert Allenby attacked the tight tree-lined course with gusto, much to the enjoyment of the galleries, which were still strong late in the afternoon. Both Lonard and Green were more measured in their game, focusing upon the huge undulations on the greens at Medinah Country Club.
The practice range and putting green all were getting attention by the players and their instructors as they prepared for the first round of the PGA Championship.
It certainly promises to be an exciting opening round, especially with Australia's US Open winner Geoff Ogilvy being paired with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
All the buzz is around the Woods-Mickelson duel and the world's number one and two players will surely not disappoint.
