World number 24, Stuart Appleby has confirmed his entry in the 2006 Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship at Hyatt Regency Coolum in December.

The Victorian had a brilliant start to the year with two victories on the US PGA Tour. He claimed the season opening Mercedes Championship in Hawaii for the third consecutive time and then led from start to finish winning the Shell Houston Open by six shots. He currently sits at #8 on the US Tour money list with over $US3m in earnings.

“I’m very excited to be coming home and playing the Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship,” Appleby said. “Coolum holds a special place for me having won there before.”

Max Garske, Chief Executive Officer of PGA Australia said he was delighted Appleby would be joining defending champion Robert Allenby and US Open Champion Geoff Ogilvy at the country’s oldest professional championship.

“Stuart is a great addition to our field and one of Australia’s in form golfers this year. He’s always played well here and we expect this year to be no different,” Garske said.

The Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship will be played 7-10 December at the Hyatt Regency Coolum on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
