Kerr gets her own back on Annika at Hammons

Cristie Kerr, who just last week was forced to watch as Annika Sorenstam breezed past her and many others to win the State Farm Classic in Illinois, was able to get some of her own back today when she birdied four of her last eight holes to beat the Swede by two and take the John Q Hammons Hotels title in Tulsa.
Kerr's simply stunning round of 61 on Saturday was perhaps the key to the win as she took the lead by one into today's final round. By the time she reached the turn today however, Kerr trailed Sorenstam by two and that she was able to come from behind as she did over the closing holes, indicates the form she is in at present. The 28-year-old has been twice a winner and twice runner up in her last four starts.
Lorena Ochoa was making a claim for the title also having started the day seven from the lead but had moved within two as she made the turn in 31. That momentum slowed over the back nine but the fact that the top three ranked players in the field finished first, second and third is a reflection not only on the quality of their play but on the capacity of the Cedar Ridge layout to identify the best players.
Kerr remains in fourth position on this year's ADT LPGA Tour money list despite her win.
Michelle Ellis was the best of the Australians in 20th place, further highlighting her improved form of late while Rachel Hetherington and Wendy Doolan were 52nd.
The LPGA Tour now has a one week break before the Longs Drugs Challenge in California in two weeks time.
