Newcastle amateur James Nitties is the big mover, early on day two of the NSW Open Championship at Horizons Golf Resort, Salamander Bay.
Nitties began the day one under par after an opening round of 71, but made the most of the perfect morning conditions to be three under after six holes today. He trails overnight leader Terry Price by two shots.
Canberra’s Craig Carmichael also improved his overnight position by one stroke, to be five under for the tournament and just one shot off the lead.
Other players at five under include Victorian Jason Norris and Marcus Cain, from Queensland.
A park-and-ride system has been set up for golf fans travelling to Horizons to watch the competition over the next three days. Visitors can park at the Gan Gan army camp off Nelson Bay Road and take a $2 shuttle bus to the course.
Entry for today is just $10, with children under 12 free. Entry for the final rounds on Saturday and Sunday is $15.
