Percy moves in to lead at QLD Masters

Cameron Percy has followed up his opening round of 66 with a 3 under par round of 69 to be joint leader heading into the third round of the Minniecon and Burke QLD Masters at the Willows Golf Resort. Percy joined Aaron Black at 9 under par to earn his spot ahead of the 55 players that made the cut, all of whom sit within seven shots of the lead.

Percy braved the blustery afternoon conditions to once again put him self into contention on the weekend. After winning the NAB Victorian PGA Championship in 2005, Percy has played full time on the US Nationwide Tour, returning home to share the joys of their newly born baby boy. “Priorities have definitely changed over the past few months and I am really enjoying spending some quality time with my family,” Percy admitted after his round.

In a packed bunch of players sitting just behind the leaders sit many players we all expected to figure come the weekend. Bonhomme, Leishman, Spence and Barnes are sure to be the threats over the final two rounds.

While the tight tussle is going on at the challenging Willows layout, there are a lucky bunch of amateurs that will share a chance of a lifetime. Through an initiative in the Townsville Bulletin, locals will have the opportunity on Sunday afternoon to win a BMW, should they have a hole in one in a shootout following the crowning of the QLD Masters champion.
