Hughes and McLean make USPGA Tour finals

Bradley Hughes and James McLean have advanced to the final stage of qualifying for the 2003 USPGA Tour School, following completion of stage two at their venue in Texas.
Hughes, who has had such a difficult year in the US finishing outside the top two hundred on the money list, finished seventh and McLean, a Buy.Com player this season, was 18th, the top twenty getting through there.
In Panama City in Florida, New Zealander Richard Lee experienced the disappointment of a last round 77 which has cost him a place at the finals. Lee, who has played nicely in his first season in Japan, was well positioned in ninth place heading into the final round but his 26th place finish means he will be back in Japan next year it would seem. Only the top twenty would advance. Ben Ferguson, the Canadian based Australian, was 44th at the same venue.
At the Seaside course in California, an agonising wait for Matt Jones (23rd) and Craig Spence (30th) as the final round has been delayed and will be completed tomorrow. Matthew Ecob was in 60th place and, it would seem, too far back. Again the top twenty will get through.
A further three venues in stage two will be played next week.
