Queenslander Riley breaks course record

26-year-old Queenslander Jon Riley has shot to the top of the leaderboard with a seven under par round 65 in the third round of the NSW Open Championship, at Horizons Golf Resort, Salamander Bay.
Riley sank a mammoth putt to eagle the 12th hole on his way to breaking Terry Price’s opening round course record 66. He is 10-under par currently one shot clear of the field. West Australian Dean Alaban felt the wrath of the Horizons layout, with three double bogeys sending him crashing back to two under par.
The NSW Open is set up perfectly for an exciting final round. 18 players are within five shots of the lead with the tournament being played in bright sunshine.
South Australia Brendan Chant is still on course and currently seven under after opening rounds of 71 and 68. And Gary Simpson, from Happy Valley in South Australia had five under today to be four under for the tournament.
A park-and-ride system has been set up for golf fans travelling to Horizons to watch the final two days of the championship. Visitors can park at the Gan Gan army camp off Nelson Bay Road and take a $2 shuttle bus to the course. Entry for the final rounds today and tomorrow is just $15.
