Gow surges to lead at USPGA Tour Q-School Final

Australian Paul Gow has shot the equal best round of the day to take the lead at US Tour School Final Stage by two shots with three rounds to go.
36-year-old Gow, from Sydney’s west shot a 7 under 65 to move from second place overnight and lead by two shots from Americans Cameron Beckman and Rich Barcelo.
His round included six birdies and an eagle on the par 5, 7th, with his only blemish a bogey on the final hole.
Gow’s rounds of 70, 68 & 65 have him at 13 under after three rounds of the six round event, with his closest Aussie contender Steve Allan at T14 on 7 under. Allan shot 3 under today but slipped from T7 to T14.
The big mover in the Australian contingent today is Sydney’s Richard Swift. A regular on the US Tightlies Tour, Swift shot a 5 under 67 and has moved from T71 to T46 at the end of Day 3.
Steven Bowditch’s day has been a different story. His round of four over has taken him from T3 to T58. Bogeys on the 13th & 15th and a double bogey on the 18th set Bowditch back and he sits on 1 under for the event.
Matthew Jones also shot four over and is now T130 with Nick Flanagan shooting 3 over and T145 along with Jason Day, both on 13 over for the tournament.
Brad Hughes, the only other Australian in the event was disqualified after two rounds.
The Australians are competing amongst a field of 163, playing for one of 30 US Tour cards, over a gruelling six rounds. The top 30 finishers and ties earn their US PGA TOUR card for 2007. The next golfers nearest 50 total earn exempt status on the Nationwide Tour. The remaining golfers of the 163 entered in the finals earn conditional status on the Nationwide Tour.
