Welshman Bradley Dredge, currently 26th on the Order of Merit, inched closer to his first ever European PGA Tour title at the Volvo Masters following an Even Par round of 71. The poor conditions affected even the best players today with South African Retief Goosen slumping to equal 47th following a 7 (78) and Spain’s Sergio Garcia carded a quadruple-bogey 9 at the 4th hole to pst a 8 (79). Despite his woes, Garcia heads into the final round just four strokes off the pace.
Angel Cabrera began the day with a four-stroke lead but failed to capitalise and closed with a 76 and is tied for second place with Colin Montgomerie at -2.
Retief Goosen, currently at 12, looks set to win the Order of Merit title with the second placed player, Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, positioned at 43rd. Harrington needs to finish in the Top 27 to have a chance at overtaking Goosen for the title.
Adam Scott will be looking for his third title of the year when he tees up in the fourth and final round of the Volvo Masters tomorrow. Scott, who has recently confirmed his place at the Australian PGA, posted a -1 (70) to close the round in equal 8th at 2. Peter O’Malley is another stroke back at 3 while Stephen Leaney shares 17th place at 5.
