Soaring temperatures and gusty winds were certainly telling factors on day two of the 2007 NEC Master of the Amateurs Championship being played at Yarra Yarra Golf Club in Melbourne.

Despite the temperature hovering around 40 degrees and hot gusty winds playing havoc, five players returned rounds of 70; among them Rich River golfer Ashley Umbers who is the overnight leader, two strokes clear.

First round leader Daniel Beckmann was brought back to the field in the extreme conditions. After an amazing round of 66, he could only card 75 today, but still holds second place. Josh Younger and Danel Popovic are just one stroke back followed by Leigh Deagan and Andrew Kelly from Wangaratta.

The final round to decide the 2007 NEC Master of the Amateurs will be played on Thursday.
