Three share lead at NEC Masters

The conditions were much cooler, but there were some sizzling rounds on the third day of the 2007 NEC Master of the Amateurs Championship played at Yarra Yarra Golf Club today. Melbourne’s Quinton Howe and Queenslander Matthew McBain both carded 7-under 65.

And Howe, who plays out of Southern Golf Club, is one of three players going into tomorrow’s final round four under and with a share of the lead. But a lot of players remain in contention for the “Green Jacket”. After three days of consistent golf Kew’s Daniel Popovic has a share of that lead as has round two leader Ashley Umbers, who carded a 73 today.

Victoria Golf Club’s Josh Younger will start tomorrow two shots behind. After his great round today Matthew McBain is just three shots off the lead.

Also on one under are Andrew Kelly from Wangaratta and big hitting Queenslander Aaron Pike. 21 year old Pike was the talk of the golfing world at the end of last year after a course record equalling 64 in the opening round of the Masters at Huntingdale. More recently he took out the Victorian Amateur Championship.
