Play in the $US1,000,000 TCL Classic, which kick starts the run of four big events to finish the 2002 season on the Davidoff Asian Tour, has begun at the Harbour Plaza Golf Club in Dongguan in the Guangchou Province of South China.

Local hero Zhiang Lian-Wei was an early leader but he has been passed by Myanmar’s Zaw Moe who, at five under through thirteen holes, is one ahead of China’s leading player. New Zealand’s recently turned pro Eddie Lee is just one shot back, along with Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee and Chung Joon of Korea.

Ryder Cuppers,Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood and Paul McGinley are in a group at two under early in their rounds.
