Brendan Jones at it again

New South Wales golfer Brendan Jones, who just two weeks ago filled his coffers with a stack of Japanese yen following his win at the Philip Morris event, has today made a fast start to the Mitsui Sumitomo Taiheyo Masters.
Jones has opened with a first round 65 to lead by two from Hidemichi Tanaka and by three from Takashi Kanemoto.
Jones is currently in 7th position on the Japanese money list and a win here, whilst still some way off, could see him leap into the top four and with the Dunlop Phoenix still to come, this may well end up as a remarkable year for the ex Australian Amateur Champion. It is perhaps that already.
Aaron Baddeley, who celebrates his two year anniversary as a professional this week, opened with a three under 69 and shares 4th with Taichi Teshima, Shingo Katayama and Tommy Nakajima.
Justin Rose, who won earlier in the season in Japan at the Chunichi Crowns event, is at two under tied there with Charles Howell 111.
Richard Backwell and Scott Laycock are at even par, David Smail is at one over and Anthony Gilligan at five over and well back in the eighty four man field.
