Greg Norman will tee it up with John Daly during the first two rounds of the PGA Championship at Coolum. Tournament organisers today confirmed that ’The Shark’ and ’The Wild Thing’ Greg Norman and John Daly, would be paired together in the opening two rounds due to kick off at the Hyatt Regency Coolum November 28.
In a major boost to the Queensland sporting public, the dream pairing of Norman and Daly will tee it up in the same group on the morning of the opening day Thursday 28 November and in the afternoon on Friday 29 November.
“To have two of the greats of world golf in the same group is a promoters dream. This is something we have been thinking about for a while and the sporting public of Queensland deserve every chance to see them play together” said Phillip Cutt, Tournament Director.
Public support of the Championship has seen an unparalleled number of tickets sold for an Australasian PGA Tour event. Phil Cutt reports that ticket sales are seven times greater that what was sold pre-event last year in Brisbane.
“I haven’t seen demand for tickets like this since the 1998 President’s Cup” said Cutt. “The pairing of Norman and Daly will bring the crowd in their droves”
Although no other pairings have been announced, the list of entries announced yesterday ensure some other fantastic pairings throughout the first two days. Norman and Daly join Adam Scott, Stuart Appleby, Craig Parry, Peter Lonard, and Adam Baddeley in a star studded line up for the 28 November – 1 December event.
Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster7 on 1300 136 122 and Maroochy Venues & Events 07 5475 7777.
