Brendan Jones retains lead at half way point

Despite two closing bogies Australian Brendan Jones has retained the lead after round two of the Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheyo Masters and leads by one from veteran Tommy Nakajima. Tied in third place one shot further back are Taichi Teshima, Korean Jong-Duck Kim and Kiyoshi Miyazato.
Jones had opened up a five shot lead after three early birdies but bogies at the par three seventeenth and the reachable, especially for him, par five eighteenth saw him reach the clubhouse with the narrow one shot lead.
Tied in sixth place at seven under and three behind Jones is Aaron Baddeley who produced a 68 to go with his first round 69.
Scott Laycock is in twelfth spot at four under along with next week’s Australian Open drawcard Charles Howell 111, David Smail is 16th at three under, Anthony Gilligan a round of 66 today for one under and 32nd and Richard Backwell is 48th at two over
