Retief Goosen displayed to everyone the form that recently won him the 2002 European Tour Order of Merit, after taking home US$70,000 in a battle of four of the world's top 10 golfers in the Singapore Skins golf at the Tanah Merah Country Club.
Goosen lined up in his first skins tournament beside Ireland's Padraig Harrington, recent Tour Championship winner, Vijay Singh and Spain's Sergio Garcia and was no doubt pleased with the results. Goosen won only two holes but one of them was worth $60,000 and that was enough to get him over the line.
Harrington earned US$50,000, Vijay Singh finished with US$45,000 and Sergio Garcia, a quick $15,000 resulting from an eagle at the par five 15th. Goosen won US$10,000 at the third hole and came into the par-three 11th hole with the previous six holes halved and the prize money accumulating to US$60,000. Goosen's landed his tee shot closest to the pin and sank an easy birdie putt to snare the $60,000.
