A talented field of golfers will descend on South Australia’s south-east coast when the Von Nida Tour comes to town for the Hahn South Australian PGA Championship at Blue Lake Golf Club in Mt Gambier from April 19 -22.
Defending champion David Diaz will be amongst a host of players chasing glory this week with former US PGA Tour players Euan Walters and Anthony Painter heading the line-up that also includes Queenslander Scott Draper, who recently became possibly the first person in history to capture professional victories in both tennis and golf when he netted the Riverside Oaks NSW PGA title in March.
Also looking for a slice of the $105,000 prizemoney are other notable Von Nida Tour winners such Martin Doyle (2004 South Australian PGA), Cameron Percy (2006 Queensland Masters) and fellow Victorian Ashley Hall (2007 Victorian PGA).
Tournament Director and Golf Club Manager Bill Burley is excited about bringing the Hahn South Australian PGA Championship to Blue Lake Golf Club in Mt Gambier.
“Having an event of this stature is a wonderful opportunity for the local community to experience golf at the highest level. The course will be perfectly presented and with such quality field, spectators will be treated to a high level of low scoring,” Burley said.
The week commences with the Srixon Junior Pro-Am on Tuesday afternoon when 54 junior golfers will get the priceless experience of playing alongside a professional golfer before the main event swings into action on Thursday.
