Pacific Dunes hosts NSW Mid-Amateur

The NSW Mid Amateur Championship will be held at the magnificent Pacific Dunes Golf Club, Port Stephens, on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th May 2007.
The event, open to players aged between 30 and 54 years as a the first day of play with a handicap limit of 9.4 or less, will see 112 players take to the course on Thursday for the first 18 holes, after which a cut is made with the top 60 players plus ties contesting the final 36 holes on Friday.
The event was introduced to the NSW Golf Association calendar last year after the success of mid amateur tournaments interstate and overseas.
Top contenders from New South Wales include 2006 NSW Mid Amateur Champion Adam Revai from The Australian Golf Club, James Brownlow from Long Reef Golf Club and Guy Wall from Pymble Golf Club.
Other contenders include interstate representatives John Bevridge (Yarra Yarra) who is the current Victorian Mid Amateur Champion, 2006 Victorian Mid Amateur Championship runner up Matthew Oldham, as well as Queensland representatives Brett Baker (Southport) and Matthew Dowling (Keperra).
The venue, Pacific Dunes Golf Club, is the number one ranked public access course in NSW according to Golf Australia. Its strategic design and placement of bunkers and water hazards is fair but will be challenging for the competitors.
