Defending champion leads NSW Mid-Amateur

Inaugural NSW Mid Amateur Champion, Adam Revai from The Australian Golf Club, has taken a three stroke lead after an opening round of 2 under par 70 in the 2007 Championship. On the immaculately prepared Pacific Dunes golf course Revai recorded one under par on each of the nines with a solitary bogey each side. The elements had given the course a severe test with over 50mm of rain during the night and continuing up until an hour and a half before hit off, but with excellent drainage the course played evenly.
Following Revai were a trio on 73 including John Fearnley (Dunheved Golf Club), Brian Yates (Kogarah Golf Club) and Gary Schofield (Southport Golf Club) whose score at the end of the day wwas impressive given the three “doubles” on the card.
The cut was 84 and left a field of 63 players to return for the deciding 36 holes tomorrow.
The Teams event, comprising State invitees is being led by the home team represented by Adam Revai and Guy Wall (Pymble Golf Club) on 144, from Queensland reps (156) Brett Baker (Southport Golf Club) and Matthew Dowling (Keperra Golf Club) with the Victorian team (160) of Matthew Oldham (Victoria Golf Club) and John Beveridge (Yarra Yarra Golf Club).
