Korea’s Mi Jeong Jeon made it three wins in a row today when she came from behind on the final day to beat the prolific winner of Japan Ladies Golf Tour titles, Yuri Fudoh, at the Vernal Ladies Championship in Fukuoka.
Jeon followed up wins at the Yashima Queens event and the Salonpas World Ladies tournament in the last two weeks with her playoff win over Fudoh after she had made up a three shot overnight deficit. An early bogey by Jeon and a birdie at the third by Fudoh had actually extended the early deficit to five before Jeon began to turn the tide.
An eagle by Jeon at the 16th and a bogey at the last by Fudoh proved crucial in the outcome of the event. There was a five shot gap back to the third placed player, Erina Hara.
The best of the Australians was Tamie Durdin, who finished in a share of 10th place while Nikki Campbell had a horror final round of 82 to finish 43rd.
The Japan Ladies Golf Tour now plays the Chukyo Bridgestone Open in Aichi Prefecture starting on Thursday.
