Yet another Kim wins on LPGA Tour

Young Kim became yet another first time Korean winner on the LPGA Tour when a final round of 68 saw her outlast her co-third round leaders to win the LPGA Corning Classic in Corning, New York.
Kim has played the LPGA Tour since 2004 but her previous best finishes had been when 3rd at the British Open in 2005 and at the Mizuno Classic that same year. She seldom misses a cut but had not put herself into contention on many occasions although there has been a sign in recent weeks that her game was coming around.
Kim made a fast start to her final round today but Paula Creamer was also quickly out of the blocks and through five holes they shared the lead. Creamer double bogeyed the 6th and left Kim in the lead and although she stumbled late in her opening nine holes Young Kim recovered sufficiently to outlast Creamer, Bader and Kim, all of whom made late mistakes in their quest for victory. Mi Hyun Kim had actually taken a two shot lead early in the back nine but bogies at her 14th and 16th holes would prove costly.
Bader still had a chance with one hole to play but took a double bogey at the last hole to fall from outright second to a share of fourth.
Wendy Doolan was the best of the Australians in what was a rather ordinary week for them. She finished 45th after making a good start to the week. Rachel Hetherington was 49th, Lindsey Wright 56th and Michelle Ellis 72nd.
The LPGA Tour now plays the lucrative Ginn Tribute hosted by Annika in South Carolina an event which will witness the return of Annika Sorenstam to tournament golf.
