Thirteen may prove lucky for Lafeber at Asian Open

The Netherlands' Maarten Lafeber carded a -1 (71) to close the round at -13 and will take a one shot lead into the final round of the US$1.5 million BMW Asian Open in Taiwan.
Lafeber has hit an end of year purple patch with four top 15 finishes in his last four tournaments on the European Tour. Three of those finishes was a tie for 13th place and with his third round total at -13 today, you could be excused for thinking that the number thirteen could indeed be lucky for some.
Ireland's Padraig Harrington and South African Trevor Immelman fired 68 each to get to -12 and just one stroke off the pace.
John Daly, honoured his mother's wishes by playing this week following her death, was perhaps understandably sitting eleven shots off the lead after a third round 70.
Defending champion, Swede Jarmo Sandelin was eight strokes behind Lafeber following a round of 70 and will need a small miracle to pull off back-to-back victories tomorrow.
Adrian Percey leads the only two ANZ players left in the field and posted a 73 to close at -6 (T11). West Australian Kim Felton is another stroke back at 5 and a tie for 16th.
The tournament is co-sanctioned by the Asian PGA Tour and PGA European Tour, and is the first event of the 2003 European tour season.
