25-year-old Zhang Na led from start to finish in this week’s Suntory Open in Kobe and in doing so became the first player from Mainland China to win on the Japan Ladies Golf Tour.

Zhang, who is in her rookie season in Japan, struggled a little in today’s final round but had done enough to hold off the challengers by establishing an eight shot third round lead that it was always going to be difficult for the chasers to catch her.

Shiho Ohyama and Erina Hara tried hard with impressive last rounds of 67 and 65 respectively but their task was too great.

Australian, Nikki Campbell, was the defending champion but was perhaps disappointing given her good form leading into the event. She finished in 23rd position while Tamie Durdin was 42nd.
