Jason Day Audio Interview - July 2007
BY Bruce Young | Nationwide Tour | 2007 Cox Classic | Preview | 26 Jul 2007
Queensland golfer, Jason Day, is on the verge of PGA Tour status for the 2008 season. This week he returns to the Nationwide Tour in Omaha, Nebraska, after a week in Orlando where he has made his home in the US.
Day is currently in sixth place on the Nationwide Tour money list and likely has enough money already to make the top 25 who will graduate to the PGA Tour in 2008. For Day, however, as he outlines in this chat with Bruce Young, his task is to finish as high on the Nationwide Tour money list as possible in order to be guaranteed the highest number of starts early in season 2008.
A precocious talent even before turning professional at around this time last year, Day has further confirmed just what he is capable of by becoming the youngest ever winner of an event on the Nationwide Tour when, in early July, at the age of 19 years and seven months, he claimed the Legends Financial Group Classic in Cleveland.
Day is one of the new breed of Australian golfers seemingly prepared to tackle the US first rather than travelling the traditional route of Europe then the USA. That he has been so quickly able to establish himself in the USA is further evidence of not only a great self belief and raw talent, but a tremendous work ethic and preparedness to learn.
Listen now as Jason talks to Bruce about his year to date and his thoughts on what lies ahead.
