Bolli guarantees PGA Tour status

Justin Bolli assured himself of PGA Tour status in 2008 by winning the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic by one shot over Patrick Sheehan and Richard Johnson after the 31-year-old had birdied two of the last three holes to claim the title.

A double bogey at the 17th hole cost Welshman Richard Johnson his chance of victory after he had led into the third round and still led by one shot with two holes to go. Johnson, who attended University in Georgia, has won twice on the Nationwide Tour but not since 2000.

For Bolli, however, this win will take him safely inside the top 25 for the remainder of the year and assure him of a place on the PGA Tour in 2008.

Patrick Sheehan holed out for an eagle at the 8th but a double bogey at the 11th appeared to ruin his chances. Three late birdies had him back in contention for the title but he was unable to add that one extra birdie needed to catch Bolli.

The best of the Australians were Marc Leishman and David McKenzie who were 18th, while New Zealander, Phil Tataurangi and Greg Chalmers were the next best of the down under brigade in 21st place.

The Nationwide Tour now moves to Rochester, New York for the Xerox Classic where the two leading players in 2007, Roland Thatcher and Jason Day, are both scheduled to play.
