Blake McGrory (Surfers Paradise) has fired the lowest round of day one at the 2007 Gary Player Classic with a 68 (-4) to lead the 18 – 20 age division by one shot. On a relatively good day for scoring Mitchell Early (Club Pelican) and Jared Consoli (Pacific) are in touch after rounds of 69 (-3).

Setting the mark in the 16 – 17 year division are two Western Australians, Aidan Bae (Gosnells) and Paul Fenton (Royal Fremantle) after rounds of 69 (-3). Both have travelled to Brisbane chasing the valuable Australian Junior Boys Order of Merit points on offer this week.

A further shot back after rounds of 70 (-2) is Bobin Kang (Arundel Hills) and Adam Verity (Hills). Verity’s round could have been much lower except for a disastrous triple bogey 7 on the 15th hole.

Leading the young brigade in the 15 years and under division after 74s is Sam West (Beerwah), Viraat Badhwar (Indooroopilly) and Taylor MacDonald (Pine Rivers).
