Bland, Main share Queensland Open lead

BY iseekgolf.com | Von Nida Tour | 2007 Queensland Open | Round Two | 26 Oct 2007

New South Welshman Nathan Main and Adam Bland from South Australia share the lead at the half-way mark of the City Pacific – Mirvac Queensland Open, and will be looking to hold off a strong local contingent over the final 36 holes.

Main, who has spent much of the past five years in the United Kingdom, backed up yesterday’s opening round of 68 with a 6 under par round of 66 today. His co-leader Bland – a two-time winner on the Canadian Tour this year, fired the low round of the day (64), after a 70 yesterday.

Bland said after his round today, “I’ve had a pretty good year with a couple of wins in Canada, but it’s always nice to play well at home.” The experience of these wins is sure to stand Bland in good stead over the weekend.

At 9 under par, previous two-time winner of the championship, Peter Senior, sits one stroke back, poised to strike. Sharing third with Senior are Craig Scott (Vic), Ed Stedman (NSW) and Chris Gray (WA).

The 36 hole cut was 143 (1 under par), and will see 56 players contest the weekend. Round three will commence at 7:30am tomorrow (Saturday 27 October), with the leaders scheduled to tee-off at 10:30 am.
