South African Kamps leads Volvo Masters of Asia

South African Craig Kamps has maintained the lead after thirty six holes of the Volvo Masters of Asia near Kuala Lumpur, but his two late bogies cost him a healthy cushion heading into round three. The thirty seven year old who has played the Asian Tour since 1995 has been inside the top ten on the money list on three occasions in that time but the last two years have not been so good. He was sixtieth in 2001 and is currently thirty-third on the 2002 Order of Merit.
He leads by just the one shot over India’s Arjun Singh and Arjun Atwal and the Korean teenager Kevin Na. Atwal has created the opportunity to win the event and perhaps the Order of Merit in doing so. He currently trails Order of Merit leader Jyoti Rhandawa by some $US58,000 and with $US90,000 to the winner here, the possibility remains.
Rhandawa and Thongchai Jaidee (second on money list) are tied for thirteenth this week after thirty-six at six under and just four behind so many permutations for the tournament and the money list as they head into the weekend.
The leading Australian is Kim Felton in 43rd place, Brad Kennedy and David Gleeson 48th and Adrian Percey 62nd.
