2007 USPGA Tour Rookie of the Year, Brandt Snedeker, appears to be a golfer likely to win over the hearts of golf fans around the world if his plan to continue to play internationally continues.
“I enjoy playing around the world,” said Snedeker on the eve of the Australian Open at the Australian Golf Club in Sydney. “I have played two events in Japan this year and then last week at the Australian PGA Championship and what I would like to do next year is play a few less events on the PGA Tour and a couple more internationally.”
27-year-old Snedeker actively sought the opportunity to play outside of the US after his stellar season on the PGA Tour where he finished 17th on the money list and won his first USPGA Tour event at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro. He had graduated to the PGA Tour after winning twice on the Nationwide Tour in 2006.
His attitude towards the benefits of playing internationally gives hope to tournament organisers in this part of the world looking to capitalise on a longer off season for the PGA Tour and the likes of he, Jason Gore, Kevin Stadler and Ryan Moore who are all in Sydney this week may well have blazed the trail form many more to follow in the years ahead.
