Gavin Coles has taken the outright lead in the $1.25 million Mastercard Masters at the Huntingdale Golf Club in Melbourne today. Coles leads by one stroke from West Australian Steve Collins and two strokes from Queensland’s Adam Scott who sits at -8 following the opening ten holes.
Scott bogeyed the 1st and 5th holes to allow his playing partner Gavin Coles and Steve Collins to pass him by although birdies at the 2nd and 7th holes helped to steady his round.
Aaron Baddeley has again tamed the Huntingdale layout early on with birdies coming at the 4th, 6th, 8th and 9th holes. Yesterday he set a new course record with a round of -8 (64) and is -4 for the day with a total of -6 for the tournament.
After a slow start this morning Peter Lonard has come alive with birdies at the 6th and 7th and another three in a row from the 12th through to the 14th and in position for another at the 15th. He now sits at -8 and in a tie for 3rd place.
