Butch Harmon may not have been able to get Adam Scott across the line in Melbourne this week but another of his pupils, nineteen-year-old Kevin Na, reeled off a last round 66 to upstage his more experienced rivals and win the inaugural Volvo Masters of Asia.

Na, who is in his first year on the Davidoff Asian PGA Tour, is Korean-born but like so many others moved with his family to the US at an early age (eight). He went on to become one of the leading junior amateur golfers in the US before turning pro at the ripe old age of seventeen. This is his first win in Asia but there have been five other top tens and his future appears bright.

Four players tied for second namely Simon Yates of Scotland, Anthony Kang of Korea, South African Craig Kamps who had led the event for so long and Arjun Singh.

The event brought a close the 2002 season although there is one further event in 2002 that now part of the 2003 season. That event is in Okinawa and is co-sanctioned with the Japan PGA Tour. India’s Jyoti Rhandawa has won the Order of Merit title from Thongchai Jaidee with Arjun Atwal in third.

The Australians fared ordinarily with Brad Kennedy the best in 57th spot, Kim Felton and Adrian Percey in 58th and David Gleeson 61st.
