Brisbane’s Bronson La’Cassie has cruised to a third successive round of 67 at the final stage of the 2007 Australasian PGA Tour Q-School on a day that was plagued by weather delays.
Play was suspended twice at the Peninsula Golf Club (North Course) due to thunderstorms and lightning, once at 7:30am, with play resuming at 11:45am and again at 3:10pm. The 87-man field all successfully completed their third rounds by the time darkness fell.
Euan Walters sits in outright second place and five strokes off the pace following a three under 69. The 37-year-old Victorian will be keen to reignite his career after losing his US PGA Tour card at the end of 2005 and his Nationwide Tour card in 2006.
A group of six players, including three Kiwis, share equal 3rd on seven under. 2007 Australian Amateur Stroke Play Champion, Andrew Dodt, failed to capitalise on his second round 65 and closed the day with an even par 72. He will need something very special tomorrow if he is to walk away with Medallist honours.
The top 35 and ties will earn a fully exempt Australasian Tour card for 2008 while those who finish between 36th and 60th will receive limited status for the Von Nida Tour.
