Bronson La’Cassie has left the best for last today when he shot a six under 66 to win the 2007 Australasian PGA Tour Q-School finals by a massive ten strokes.
“There was defintely a lot of good players here this week so topping the leaderboard gives me plenty of confidence moving forward,” said the 24-year-old University of Minnesota graduate.
La’Cassie was clearly pleased with his reversal in form this week after failing to make it through Stage Two of the US PGA Tour Q-School last month and missing the cut at the recent Australian Open.
“If I play well in the next two Nationwide events, it should give me the opportunity to be playing in the US next year, which is definitely where I want to be.”
The Queenslander and former Western Amateur champion headed in to the final day with a five shot lead following three consecutive rounds of 67 at the Peninsula Golf Club on the southern outskirts of Melbourne.
Current Australian Amateur Stroke Play Champion, Andrew Dodt, rallied on the final day to secure equal second place alongside Sung Lee.
27-year-old South Korean, Lee, won his first professional title this year at the Bangkok Airways Open on the Asian Tour and finished 45th at last week’s Australian Open.
The top 35 and ties have earnt a fully exempt Australasian Tour card for 2008 while those who finished between 36th and 60th will receive limited status for the Von Nida Tour.
