Despite being eligible to play this week’s Mercedes Championship in Hawaii, world number 7 ranked golfer, Adam Scott, will make his 2008 debut at the Abu Dhabi Championship starting on January 17th.
Scott’s win at the Houston Open early in 2007 had earned him a spot in the elite Mercedes Championship field restricted to tournament winners in 2007 on the PGA Tour.
Scott, who finished runner up to Vijay Singh at the Mercedes Championship last year, is, according to his management, taking a longer break in order to better prepare himself for the season ahead. Aaron Baddeley is, therefore, the only Australian in the Mercedes Championship field.
The Abu Dhabi Championship is a European Tour event being played for the third occasion, England’s Paul Casey won the event in 2007 and Chris DiMarco took the honours in 2006.
