Australians take Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup

The final round of the Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup was completed in Argentina overnight and the Australian team of Kurt Barnes , the 2002 Australian Amateur Champion and 21 year old Victorian Luke Hickmott have prevailed in a playoff over South Africa.

Barnes and Hickmott had tied the South Africans after trailing them going into round four. They won at the first playoff hole. Mexico was a distant third some eleven shots back with New Zealand and the Netherlands sharing fourth.

South Africa’s Albert Kruger and Mexico’s Daniel De Leon were the leading individuals one shot ahead of Kurt Barnes and Inder Van Weerelt of the Netherlands.

The event was played at the Los Lagartos Country Club outside of Buenos Aires.
