Australian female golf’s number four ranked player, Nikki Campbell, is looking to bounce back at the ANZ Ladies Masters.
“I missed the cut in Melbourne last week but I guess that is golf to large extent,” said the 27-year-old from Canberra who has successfully plied her trade in Japan in recent years.
“I feel like I have been practicing well but struggling to take it onto the course at present but that may be a reflection on the fact that that I have not played much of late.”
“It might be something I need to address namely the need to play more and not get too bogged down with technique. I need to get to know more what makes me play well.”
Campbell has finished 5th and 6th in this event in recent years and the 2002 Australian Amateur Champion is all too aware of the vagaries of Royal Pines.
“People say it is open and it is not that hard but you still have to hit a lot of good shots to do well like any golf course.”
Campbell is into her sixth season in Japan and has enjoyed a level of consistency that has seen her regularly finish inside the top ten and claim victory.
“I had 9 top 10’s there this past year but before I consider going to the US I really want to develop my game further and build an even greater level of consistency.”
Campbell is unfazed by the prospect of only 54 holes this week. “We play 54 holes just about every week and so this is not really any different and I won’t be changing my game plan at all.”
