The final stage of qualifying for the 2003 Australasian PGA Tour is underway at the Peninsula Country Club in Frankston Victoria.

One hundred and forty hopefuls line up in an attempt to gain playing rights for events starting with the New Zealand Open on January 16th. The New Zealand Open is one event that most can hope for a start in, as the events following are co-sanctioned with the European Tour and as such, tournament spots will be hard to come by for those not ranked high on the Order of Merit.

Cards will be made available to the top forty-five and ties.

Under the new tour structure in which the schedule is based on a calendar year, those who finished inside the top one hundred on the money list at the completion of the MasterCard Masters, effectively ending the 2001/2002 Order of Merit, will not have to go through this process.

The event is being staged over 108 holes with the cut coming after seventy-two.
