Ogilvy close to ending Tiger's dream run

Australian Geoff Ogilvy will be required to wait even longer if he is to complete a possible start to finish victory at the WGC-CA Championship in Miami. The final round was called off due to closing darkness with Ogilvy two ahead through nine holes, those who have not finished their rounds required to return at 8.30am on Monday morning.
Ogilvy had driven his tee shot on the fairway at the par five 10th hole and with 281 yards remaining to the hole has a chance of another birdie on his return.
Ogilvy leads by two over Jim Furyk and Vijay Singh with a further shot back to Retief Goosen and Graeme Storm and another back to Adam Scott and Steve Stricker, who was one of the 22 to finish round four. His 63 equalling Vijay Singh’s earlier effort and moving him from 31st to a possible top five.
61 players were required to return to the course this morning to finish off round three with Ogilvy adding two further birdies and retaining his bogey-free record in this week’s event at that point. He finished with 68 to begin the final round four ahead of Adam Scott, Vijay Singh, Retief Goosen and Graeme Storm but the final trio of Ogilvy, Singh and Storm could only play two holes before play was again disrupted by threatening weather.
On their return after a break of three or so hours, Singh and Furyk began to close the gap and when play was finally called for the day because of darkness six players were within four shots of Ogilvy’s lead. Ogilvy picked up a birdie at the first and 6th holes but bogeyed his only hole of the week to date when he missed the green left at the 7th and was unable to salvage par.
The much anticipated charge from Tiger Woods had not eventuated when play was called and at five shots behind the leader, he will need a near miracle on his return if he is to continue his great run of victories. Woods was unable to improve his position on his return this morning and despite two early birdies in round four was unable to place any further pressure on those ahead.
Nick O’Hern continued his remarkable weekend adding a further six birdies and one bogey to the round of 67 he completed earlier in the day and he is not finished yet. At 12 under for the tournament through 12 holes it is perhaps a shame that his momentum has been halted but a couple more birdies on his return on Monday could see him better his 6th place finish in this event last year.
Another Australian on a roll over the weekend is Brendan Jones, who finished off his third round in 66 and is five under through 15 holes of his final round.
